Jo Lackey likes to see a person smile when looking at her art.She especially likes watercolors for their free flowing spirit. Not only does she paint watercolors on paper but is now painting on watercolor canvas. All of her folk art is painted with acrylics on tin and wood.

Jo is a wife, mother of two adult sons and a grandmother She lives at Berkeley Lake, Georgia, in Duluth, where she has her studio, but spends much of her time at her place in Seagrove Beach, Florida. Her art can be seen in private and commercial collections in the U S and international collections such as Australia, New Zealand, Russia, England, Japan, France, and Canada. She also enjoys donating her paintings to charities for their fundraiser auctions. Painting with the Foundation for Hospital Art in the U S and in Australia and New Zealand has been a highlight in her career.

Jo is happy to have you visit at her studio anytime by appointment. Her art can be purchased there or you might want to discuss a commission over a cup of tea. She also sells her art at shows during the year and at Main Oak Emporium in Mt. Airy, North Carolina and ARTWALK in Boone, North Carolina. She has had one person art exhibits at the Success Center at Georgia Tech, the Gwinnett Historical Court House and the Gertrude Smith House which is on the national historical registry in Mt. Airy, N C sponsered by the Visitors Center. Mt. Airy is Jo's hometown.

Over the years she has studied with Edna Piersol Windes, Christopher Schinck, Polly Hammett, Marilyn Hughey Phillis, Carrie Brown, Carol Beesley, Carol Cooper, Lala Street and with Carol Cooper at La Romita School of Art in Terni, Italy.

Jo wishes to paint, love and be pleased with bright colored fun loving paintings she has created and then pass on these treasures to someone else to appreciate and enjoy!
